Fiber Optic Splice Closure is a fiber management product or a device typically used with outdoor fiber optical cables, to provide space and protection for the fiber optic cables splicing and joint. This fiber optic closure can connect and store optical fibers safely both in outside plant and indoor buildings. It can provide protection for the fiber joint and the fiber cables as they have excellent mechanical strength and strong out shell, which ensures the joints are not damaged by the hostile environment. Fiber splice closure is normally used for aerial, strand-mount FTTH “tap” locations where drop cables are spliced to distribution cables.
Types of Fiber Optic Closure
Generally the fiber optic splice closures can be classified into 2 types from appearance. They are Horizontal Fiber Optic Splice Closure and Dome Fiber Optic Splice Closure (Vertical Type).
Horizontal Type Fiber Optic Splice Closure
Also can be called as In-line Fiber Optic Splice Closures or half-type fiber optic closure, look like flat or cylindrical case. They can be mounted aerial, buried, or for underground applications. Horizontal types are used more often than vertical type (dome type) closures. The cases are usually made of high tensile construction plastic, are widely used in CATV, telecommunications and fiber optic networks. The common fiber counts of flat fiber splice closure are 12/ 24/48 fibers.

• Intensity: 15KV (DC) not being broken down, has no flying arc.
• Additional Loss: No additional loss when optic fibers are winded in the splice trays
• The-ageing time of the material of the enclosure is beyond 20 years under normal conditions
