Ethernet, an internet protocol that defines how the information will be transmitted over a specific medium. Fiber optic cable, coaxial cable and twisted pair cable are three types of Ethernet network cable. The most commonly used are twisted-pair copper network cable and fiber optic cable. Generally, to simplify the appellation, we are used to calling category Ethernet cables- Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, Cat7 and Cat8 as Ethernet cable.
The Ethernet network patch cable, also called patch leads or patchcord, are connectors terminated on both ends of the Ethernet copper network cable used in Voice & data connectivity. Ethernet Patch cables are often used for short distances in offices, homes & hotel rooms, which can connect computers, modems, printers, scanners, gaming consoles, streaming devices to a network hub, router or Ethernet switch.
TANGPIN is a professional manufacturer of Ethernet network patch cable in Shanghai over 15years. We wholesale customized network patchcords at factory-direct-price according to customers' requests. High-quality products and affordable prices always make our customers Satisfied with us.
RJ45 is a kind of information socket connector in the wiring system. The connector consists of a plug (connector, crystal head) and a socket (module). The plug has 8 grooves and 8 contacts, also called 8P8C (8 position 8 contact)connector. RJ is the abbreviation of Registered Jack, which means "registered jack". In FCC (Federal Communications Commission Standards and Regulations), RJ is an interface that describes a public telecommunication network, and RJ45 of a computer network is a common name for a standard 8-bit modular interface. |
RJ11 connector typically comes with 6 PINS and 4 contacts, which is widely used in the analog telephony to link the phone instrument and the cable. It is used in PSTN telephone lines to connect telephone cables which are technically different from Ethernet cables. |
(There are two types of RJ45 connectors according to different pinout standards, T568A and T568B.
Pinout is the assignment of each of the various contacts within the connector. The color-coded wires must be inserted into the correct pinout locations in the RJ45 connector for correct functioning of an Ethernet network. The T568A standard offers backward compatibility with older wiring. The T568B standard offers better signal isolation and noise protection.
Both T568A and T568B are compliant with the ANSI/TIA-568-C wiring standards. The only difference is that the orange and green pairs are interchanged. (See below picture)
RJ45 PINOUTS (T568A)
RJ45 PINOUTS (T568B)
(PS. TANGPIN can supply both types of RJ45 pinout types connector. The default pinout type is T568B.)

A UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair) patch cable is a length of Twisted-pair ethernet network cable without any metal shielding layer, but terminated with connectors on both ends. UTP is Unshielded Twisted Pair Pathcord, which is the most widely used cable type for Ethernet networks. The UTP is the most commonly used twisted-pair cable in networking media, as its price is relatively cheap, the networking is flexible, and it is easier to install.
STP (Shielded Twisted Pair) patch leads are shielded cables with twisted pairs of wires terminated connectors on both ends. The STP patchcord is usually to protect against high-level interference that can come from electromagnetic fields, power lines, and even radar systems.

Oxygen Free Copper (OFC) patch cable, is the cable conductor made of solid copper wire or pure bare copper wire terminated with connectors on both ends. The purity of copper to more than 99.95%. | The copper clad aluminum (CCA) patch cable, is a length of ethernet cable terminated with connectors on both ends, while Its conductor is composed of an inner aluminum core and an outer copper cladding. It is significantly lighter and weaker than pure copper wire or oxygen-free copper wire. CCA patchcord is a cheap aternative. |
PS. We supply both the OFC patch cables and the CCA patch cables. Customers can choose from them depending on their needs.
PVC jacket network patch cable
PVC means Polyvinyl Chloride. PVC jacket cables are soft resistant to oxidation and degradation. The PVC cable are usually work for vertical runs for the wiring center. A PVC jacket that gives off heavy black smoke, hydrochloric acid, and other toxic gases when it burns.
LSZH jacket network patch cable
LSZH means Low Smoke Zero Halogen. This material is more rigid as it is of a special flame-retardant coating, and excellent fire safety characteristics of low smoke, low toxicity and low corrosion. A LSZH jacket has a flame-resistant jacket that doesn’t emit toxic fumes even if it burns.
Whether you choose PVC jacket, or LSZH jacket depends on where you're going to run the cable. We offer customized services according to your requests.
Cable Category and Speeds
Category 5 (Cat5) – an older form of Ethernet cable and enables speeds up to 100Mb/s (100 MHz). Cat5 cable is out dated.
Category 5e (Cat5e) – the updated version of Cat5 cable and allows for faster speeds with reduces interference from electrical cables, supporting a Gigabit Ethernet (1,000Mb/s) (100 MHz)
Category 6 (Cat6) – supports speeds up to 10 Gigabit Ethernet and can be achieved with distance of 37-55 meters or less depending on the grade of the cable and quality of installation. (1,000Mb/s) (250 MHz). Cat6 cable has thin wires, which helps in terms of its signal to noise ratio.
Category 6a (Cat6a) – the improved version of Cat6 cable, supporting speeds up to 10 Gigabit Ethernet with distance up to 100 meters (10,000 Mb/s)(500 MHz). The cables double the bandwidth than the Cat6s too.
Category 7 (Cat7) – offering up to 10Gbps (Gigabits per second) with distance up to 100 meters (10,000 Mb/s)(1000MHz). This cable is specifically designed for Data Centers and enterprise networks, so are a lot more expensive.
Category 8 (Cat8) – supporting 2000MHz bandwidth and speeds of 40Gbps. These cables are specifically designed for Data Center and enterprise networks, and the price is more expensive.

Q&A
Q: How to choose a Cat cable?
A: It depends on your situation and your business requirements. If you are just satisfied with the speed of your network now, there is no need to go through the trouble of upgrading the network, like from Cat5e to Cat6, Cat6 to Cat6a, Cat6a to Cat7.
Q: Is this copper bulk cable can be used outdoor?
A: This is rated for indoor usage, and we don’t recommend using it outdoor.
Q: Whether my RJ45 connectors can be terminated with CAT7 cable?
A: Cat 7 Ethernet cables can be terminated with RJ45 connectors but for specialized versions, it required GigaGate45 (GG45) connector.
