Wall Faceplate

Faceplate (face plate, face-plate) is a plate, cover, or bezel on the front of a device. Here refers to Electrical outlet,or a wall face plate socket in networking systems. Electrical faceplates are covers secured over socket back boxes, switches, and other electrical wiring outlets, which are suitable for different kinds of modular jack installation, widely used in working area network cabling.They conceal wired connections, improving safety and giving a cleaner look.

Network Faceplate

Ethernet connectors or RJ45 sockets are widely used in homes and offices, which allow to increase bandwidth connections with high internet speeds. Generally, these types of broadband socket covers are usually located close to routers and desktop computers. They provide a direct termination at the wall outlet for various network and communication cables, including Cat5e, Cat 6 and 6a, and Cat7.

Wall faceplate socket can have RJ-45 jacks for 10BaseT networks (which resemble household RJ-11 telephone wall jacks), BNC jacks for 10Base2 networks, or SC jacks for networks that use fiber-optic cabling.

Some products listed as keystone faceplate when buying networking socket. This means they have a female data connector or keystone jack mounted directly. This often will be an RJ11 or RJ45 socket. They are used for setting up Local Area Network(LAN), linking multiple devices like modems, computers, phones, fax machines, and optical displays.

You can get special wall plates for serial interfaces that use DB connectors such as DB9 or DB25.

Faceplate materials

The faceplate can be made from either plastic material or metal material, no matter what kind of material, their basic function of the unit is the same. Plastic faceplate are very cheap, while the metal faceplate will be a little more expensive.
